« Un gesto de humanismo, un caso sobre la mesa »…

Six years ago, Ingrid Betancourt, the former Franco-Colombian candidate of the green party for the presidential elections in Colombia was kidnapped by the FARC, the armed forces of the Colombian revolution, in order to receive money thanks to an exchange or to exchange her against prisoners. The FARC did a great action since Ingrid Betancourt is very popular in France and in Colombia, what assured them be considered as credible opponents and not to be bombed by the... [Lire la suite]

My description of...

Today, I’d like to talk about a country I’ve really discovered this year. To be honest, before last August, I didn’t know a lot about it. In fact, I just knew that it is a small island, in South-East Asia, near Malaysia and that one of the most important people there is Lee Kwan Yew who built a new society, a new conception of civilization, but I didn’t know what it was. Hence, my knowledge about Singapore, I considered to be the Monaco to Asia, was not so rich, and I was ashamed because of that.        ... [Lire la suite]

“Atlantism”, a dangerous foreign policy?

This Week, Nicolas Sarkozy decided to send 1 000 French soldiers in Afghanistan, in order to help the NATO’s forces there to fight against the Talibans and to teach the Afghani army. This decision might be pretty well-advised since it is a way to fight against “terrorism” and to allow a country to rise up after the past catastrophes such as the war against the USSR, the Taliban’s dictatorship, the war against the US etc. Of course we must help this country, which is one of the poorest ones and which is very strategic because many... I don’t pretend to know everything and that my ideas have to be considered as an incontestable truth (if it was the case, I wouldn’t be a student…), but rather as “my truth”, my convictions, my ideals and my values. I’ll explain what I think about this very controversial subject which is authoritarianism in general and more particularly in China. Since the beginning of the Week, from March 10th, the... From disasters to a shining future?

The United States are known all over the world because of their ideal of democracy and freedom and also because they are the most powerful country of the world economically, military, culturally and politically speaking. This model has been tainted by the two disastrous mandates of the President Georges W. Bush who went in Iraq with no justified reason, who lied to the whole international community, provoked the explosion of the Middle-East which was already a mess, destroyed the international precarious equilibrium, led the... Hi everybody! First, I would like to introduce myself and then explain the contents of the blog I’m going to write. So, I’m Fabien, French, 19 years old and a student of a French school called Sciences-Po, what can explain  why I write this blog, indeed, because of the class of English. That would be the only thing you’ll know about me. I really dislike the concept of blog and sharing things about my life in a public space, maybe because of the blogs I’ve already seen before. However, I hope you’ll enjoy what I’ll write here... [Lire la suite]
